Committees
You can make the most of your association membership by being involved.
One of the best ways to get or be involved is through committee participation. The Eastern Great Lakes Chapter offers opportunities on many committees.
CMP Study Group: Develop the study group schedule and course outline to assist participants in preparing for the CMP examination. The committee focuses on providing information regarding the test to potential CMP candidates. The committee plans and executes two CMP study groups per fiscal year (prepare course materials, coordinate speakers, coordinate venue logistics, etc.) along with maintaining a list of all chapter CMPs, coordinating recognition of new CMPs with the appropriate committee, and notifying the chapter's News & Views of new CMPs.
Anticipated Event Dates: TBA
Educational Conference: This committee will have ultimate responsibility for delivering a full day educational conference that supports our chapter's goals around visionary programming and high quality adult learning environments. This committee will manage the event with emphasis on conference theme, program format, agenda, sponsorship, marketing and speaker management.
Anticipated Event Date: Spring '08
Educational Programs: This committee will support MPI's position as a leader in the meetings industry through the unique delivery of educational programming. In keeping with MPI's visionary strategic plan, "Pathways to Excellence," the Educational Programs Committee is charged with developing timely and relevant professional development content and delivering it in effective adult learning environments that provide value to our members.
Anticipated Event Dates: TBA
Golf: Plan, design, market and execute the chapter's Golf Classic. While the purpose of the event is social, it also serves as an opportunity for the chapter to raise funds and enhance chapter-wide programming for members throughout the year.
Anticipated Event Date: Spring/Summer 2008
Marketing/Public Relations: Creative and organized members are perfect candidates for the Marketing/Public Relations Committee! Beginning in November 2007, this committee will be responsible for the development of virtually all of the chapter's marketing materials including a bi-weekly e-newsletter, the chapter website, an annual chapter calendar, and other means of marketing Eastern Great Lakes events. This committee is responsible for the chapter's annual marketing plan and timeline, and manages the chapter's brand and identity program.
The Public Relations subcommittee, under Marketing, works closely with other committees and the local business press to get media placement for important EGL MPI events and endeavors.
Membership: Spread the excitement of EGL MPI! Recruit new members and maintain existing members through monthly phone calls, hospitality table at each chapter event, new member orientation, phone-a-thon, and an annual membership drive. Continually assess the needs of chapter members as they often change. Work with MPI headquarters in Dallas and our local management company extensively.
The registration subcommittee, under membership, manages the on-site registration process at each of our chapter events throughout the year. By acting as the official greeters at our events, these committee members personally interact with all attendees. It's a great way to be active and meet your peers.
News & Views: Become a chapter reporter by writing and compiling articles, information and advertisements for each of the six issues.
Partnership Development: Play a key role in the on-going success of the MPI Eastern Great Lakes Chapter by developing, celebrating, recognizing, and thanking the many partner members that serve our chapter by donating cash support or in-kind product support to our Chapter. Your participation will equip and empower each committee as they secure the sponsorship needed to reach and exceed their goals. In this capacity you will work closely with chapter leadership to ensure that partners are acquired and honored with consistency and excellence.
Research & Development: Design, tabulate and publish monthly meeting evaluations and assist other committees with research as needed. Serve as a "think-tank" for the chapter in researching, conceptualizing and developing new or improved processes or programming for our chapter. This committee also manages the Chapter's new Scholarship Program.
Ad Hoc/Project Work: In an effort to create volunteer opportunities for all chapter members this year we are introducing a new way to serve the chapter. If you prefer not to serve on one of the above committees but would like to be contacted periodically throughout the year to assist with various projects, this is the opportunity for you.
